Simulation Date Announced
A few weeks ago, the Build KCI team unveiled an opportunity for volunteers to help us test out the Kansas City International Airport New Terminal before it opens in March. There was resounding public interest with nearly 12,000 applicants to serve as “passengers” for the simulated operational test. The simulation will be held February 14, 2023. Selected applicants will be notified via email next week.
The simulation will allow the Build KCI team, airport officials, airlines, TSA, concessionaires, and others to test many aspects of the typical airport experience and address any issues before the New Terminal opens. This testing will also assist the Build KCI team in ensuring that they meet goals for accessibility, inclusion and wayfinding.
Additionally, plans are underway for a public open house prior to the terminal opening. Look for announcements and information in coming weeks.
On time and on budget!
