Glass Boarding Bridges to Make New Terminal Largest All-Glass Facility in the U.S.
The Build KCI team announced Council-approved plans to include 39 glass passenger boarding bridges (PBBs) in the New Terminal project. It will become the largest all-glass PBB facility in the U.S. when the new terminal opens in 2023. PBBs allow for the enclosed transfer of passengers and crews between an airport terminal and aircraft. Currently all PBBs at Kansas City International Airport are steel. The new glass bridges allow passengers a higher engagement with the travel experience since they will be able to watch the boarding process and see the airfield throughout. The glass PBBs will be airconditioned and heated. Kansas City will become the largest all-glass PBB airport in the U.S. View the full presentation here.
