Alternate Artist Chosen to Create “Fountain”

The City of Kansas City, Missouri One Percent for Art program announced that Leo Villareal’s “Fountain (KCI)” will replace Nassia Inglessis’ “Fountain of Resonance” at the KCI New Single Terminal. Inglessis cited health circumstances beyond her control in her decision to withdraw from the KCI project. The artist, her U.S. representative SuperBlue, and the One Percent for Art program mutually agreed to end the KCI contract. Villareal’s “Fountain (KCI)” was chosen as the alternate by the KCI “Retail Node A” selection panel when semifinalist artists presented their proposals in March 2021. The Municipal Art Commission approved “Fountain (KCI)” at its February 4, 2022 meeting. KCMO City Council approved Leo Villareal’s “Fountain (KCI)” contract at March 3, 2022 Legislative Session. This artwork will reside in the Retail Node A area of the New Terminal at KCI, where the A Concourse intersects the Connector.
