2020 – The Year in Review
The Build KCI team is proud of the incredible progress made in 2020 despite a challenging and unconventional year. View the video here that looks back over 2020. In addition to being on schedule for opening in March 2023, this year our team:
– Provided opportunity for 113 Kansas City-certified minority- and women-owned businesses on the KCI New Terminal Project
– Completed four Workforce Training Program classes with a total of 68 trainees sent to work with local subcontractors
– Conducted two Strategic Partnership Program classes with 53 local business owners
– Increased our peak daily field workforce from 250 to over 700
– Worked approximately 650,000 hours in the field
– Turned over police parking and the new roadway system to service the existing terminals for public use
– Named by Profiles in Diversity Journal as a Top 10 Innovations in Diversity 2020 award winner for keeping diversity, inclusion, and human equity at the forefront of the project
– Raised over $90,000 for United Way Greater Kansas City’s ongoing COVID-19 recovery fund through our “Sign The Beam” Build KCI campaign
Thank you to every member of our greater project team for their hard work and dedication this year. Here’s to a safe, healthy, and happy new year!
